An oasis in the middle of the desert...

Actually, this home is located in Mesa, AZ... The East Valley Area of Phoenix, AZ.

Yes, I said home. Although the outside has the appearance of a beautiful country barn...

the inside is a cozy family home.

Birdhouses...

Zoom in a little closer... The roofs on the bird houses... Are they...? License Plates?!?

Yes, license plates! Each birdhouse has a license plate from a different state. I am sure there is a very interesting story behind each of these plates. It would be wonderful to sit back with a cold glass of iced tea in one of the redwood chairs and listen to the stories behind the license plates.

The loft...

The exterior decorating is very endearing. A fine example of this is the loft.  The loft is located far above the front door. It displays a rooster and hen nesting in the hay.

Let's step back and take an overall view...

You can see the flowers at the base of the silo, the front door, the loft, and the peak of the roof where the weather vane would be.

The base of the silo...

The silo is actually the kitchen area in this unique country home.

Hidden in the herbs planted at the base of the silo...

Another birdhouse!

The view from the road...

The view from the road gives a very rustic and country appearance. A welcomed site to a woman such as myself that was born and raised in farm country, and such a difference compared to the big city desert life.

The front door...

The washpan and pitcher are suspended to the left of the front door. The old fashioned items displayed with the ivy hanging in the background, offer a warm welome when someone comes to the front door to visit.

The front window...

The front window is located on the right of the front door. The sweet ambiance of the vining ivy gives a peaceful feeling.

The windmill...

Windmills are generally considered a much older form of technology, but are still used today. The wind energy from a windmill is used to turn mechanical machinery to do physical work, such as crushing grain or pumping water. This particular windmill stood motionless against an overcast sky. It cried out "loneliness".
